On the farm, Viken Østre, located in the middle of one of Norway's most fertile soils, fresh salads and herbs are produced. Professional vegetable production at Viken stretches back over 100 years, and the Viken family has run the farm since the 18th century.
Viken Gartneri Frosta is owned and run by the married couple Ragnhild and Jonas Viken, and their son, Karl Martin. We carefully manage the inherited knowledge that history gives us. Because even though we are a modern horticulture, our cultivation methods are based on natural growing conditions. Together with skilled professionals, we therefore ensure that our products are looked after with both care and patience. It is necessary for all the flavors to have plenty of time to develop. Then the products also get the quality and taste that characterizes green, sustainable food produced at Viken Gartneri Frosta. The first greenhouse was built for the production of salad in 1998 and we have since expanded step by step so that we now send 3.5 million salads and herbs out to grocery stores annually. We pack in our packing house and in addition to herbs and salad, we also pack courgettes and spring onions in the summer season.
