The Nor-Fishing Foundation aims to promote development within the marine sector through various measures and has the task of regularly holding international fairs in Norway. The Nor-Fishing Foundation, responsible for the Norway Seafood Festival, the fairs Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor, was established by the Storting as an independent institution in 1992, after the fairs had been organized for many years in collaboration between the Ministry of Fisheries, the Directorate of Fisheries and interest organizations in the industry . Since the foundation is self-owned, all the income generated by the fairs is channeled back into activities that promote development in the marine sector. There are no owners who take out dividends or have other commercial interests. Over the years, a capital has been built up that acts as a reserve that provides security for further development and implementation of future trade fair events. Thus, Stiftelsen Nor-Fishing has the certainty of being able to continue as a meeting place for innovative solutions for the industry even in times of downturn for the fisheries and aquaculture industry. It is often in bad times that the foundation's importance is strongest. The foundation has also contributed with, among other things, financial support for various competence and recruitment activities in the industry.
