Trondheim is emerging as one of the most interesting culinary destinations in Northern Europe. When visiting Trondheim the summer of 2025, make sure your timing is right. As Trøndelag Food Festival and Trondheim Brewery Festival begin on August 7th the city erupts into culinary activities. Foodies, baristas, families and beer brewing enthusiasts merge downtown to celebrate the food culture of Trøndelag.
Throughout the event 250 000 people visit the festival sampling the vast array of flavours of the more than 200 local food producers present at the food festival. The food stands and stages are visually stunning, with decorations presenting old as well as modern Norwegian traditions and design. You may peruse the stands, which are organized by region, allowing you to taste mussels from the peninsula of Fosen and reindeer from the high plains of Røros.

Trøndelag Food Festival also has its own area dedicated to children and teens where they can partake in all sorts of activities relating to farming, cooking seafood and exploring fresh produce, the youth village motto is ‘learning by doing’.
All kids activities are completely free!
During the festival there are foraging, mixing, baking and cooking classes held at our partnership hotel Britannia Hotel, featuring the city’s best chefs, teachers and artisans. The classes are popular as they teach people how to understand food traditions as well as new food trends using high quality local produce and practicing food sustainability.
Each year, the best products of the year are chosen among the exhibitors at Trondheim Food Festival by a jury consisting of food and beverage experts.
